Review for "Concerning Flight"

"Hold on Kathryn, just a few more seconds."
~Chakotay(in front of the bridge crew!)

Overall, it was an enjoyable episode. I was laughing right from the beginning when I saw that Janeway and Da Vinci were a little wet! Ok-as the episode started-J/D were trying out their flying machine. It didn't work so they jumped in a river! Anyway-the townspeople were laughing at them, then the ship rocks and Janeway heads to the bridge(Question-when Janeway left the holodeck-she was all wet, and when she got to the bridge-she was dry! Does the ship have central blow drying now?) Anyway, this ship is attacked and the attackers use some translocation device to beam things off the ship, and they happen to take the main computer processor(the computer processor was also stolen in Voy book #4-"Violations"). So Janeway and Tuvok go down to the planet to try to get it back, and who's there-Da Vinci-with the help of Doc's portable emitter. It turns out that Da Vinci was brought here whem the processor was stolen(doesn't anyone know how to turn off the simulation when they leave?), and his "patron" ahas given him a workshop with lots of stolen goods. With the help of Leonardo,Janeway finds the man who has the processor, and plans how to get it back. Using Leonardo's maps and Voyager's astrometrics lab-Janeway sets out to get the processor back, but while she's communicating with Voyager,Leonardo's "patron", Tau, catches her, but then Da Vinci knocks him unconcious. Janeway convinces Leonardo to help her get into the facility that is housing the processor. When they get inside, Leonardo is marveled by the "mechanical woman" in the computer. Just as they're about to be beamed back to the ship, they are attacked and the processor is beamed up without them. Janeway and Leonardo use a site-to-site transporter(which was also stolen) and beam a few kilometers away! Leonardo tells Janeway that there is a way of escape-and takes her to his new and improved flying machine, except this time there is no river to break their fall. Meanwhile, back on the ship, Chakotay and everyone are trying to get their captain back(Chakotay seems very determined). There are 13 ships headed towards them and they need to get within 500 kilometers of the surface to transport. Down on the planet, as soon as J/D are about to get into the machine--they are fired at. On Voyager, when Harry reports that there is weapons fire near the captain's position and Tom reports that they are still only 700 kilometers away, Chakotay says "Hold on Kathryn, jst a few more seconds." He says that on the bridge, but who know if anyone heard him. Anyway, on the planet J/D get into the machine and it WORKS!! They were flying!! On Voyager when they get within 500 kilometers, they beam the whole contraption onto the ship, while it was in mid-air! At the end, Janeway goes to see Leonardo and he tells her he's going to France, to dicover and possibly improve upon, the wonders he saw on the planet! Finally, Janeway walks him to his carraige. ~Finis

A couple of opinions: ~Chakotay is calling her Kathryn a lot lately, I hope this is a pre-romance thing going on! ~Isn't Janeway against giving technology to other races? If she is, won't she be angry with Chakotay for letting that alien keep the stuff he bought? ~They got the computer and the portable emitter back, but what about everything else that was stolen?

Well, that 's it for now! Next weeks episode is a repeat-"Displaced" Look for the review Thursday, Dec.4.
